Whilst Paris is famous for many things, it might not be your first thought when thinking of snazzy, sassy indie pop/rock bands. Well, it’s time to think again because Reaven are here to blow any preconceived ideas to smithereens. A quartet hailing from France’s capitol, the band have toured over several continents whilst leaving some insanely catchy releases in their wake. If you are yet to make the band’s acquaintance, then there’s no time like the present, so check out our exclusive interview with Romeo Bassi:
Can you tell us about the band’s origins. Where did you meet etc.
I (Romeo, lead singer and guitarist of the band) first met Vince (drummer and backing vocalist) when we were in high school. We actually started our first band when we were just 13 years old! That’s where it all began, right there in our school playground. I simply asked him, “If I start a band, would you like to be part of it?” He just said, “Yeah, of course!” And that was it. That’s how everything started. Years later, we met Rudy and André, and they’ve now been with us for more than six years. It’s pretty crazy to think that something that started with such a simple question in a school playground eventually turned into all of this!
What are the musical influences of each band member and how do you forge them into a cohesive whole?
We’re lucky enough to share a lot of the same musical tastes, of course with some slight differences. I think we never really confront or oppose our influences. Instead, we try to take the best from each of them and blend everything together to create our own unique sound and identity.
Can you tell us about your local music scene. Is it supportive? Are there many places to play?
In our hometown, the music scene is definitely alive and supportive, but to be honest, there aren’t that many places to perform. Compared to when we were teenagers, we’ve seen live music venues become increasingly scarce over the years, which is a real shame
What’s the best and worst thing about your local scene?
The best thing is that pretty much everyone knows everyone, so you can build connections really quickly. The downside is that, unfortunately, a lot of bands don’t last when they only perform and stay local. There’s simply not enough diversity or opportunities to keep things moving and growing.
Can you tell us about the band’s discography (demos, singles, albums).
Of course! We just released our third album, “Reavolution”, on October 1st, 2026. We’re really proud of it, and we’re lucky to be among those artists who still regularly release full albums and EPs. A little while ago, we also released a special live EP that we recorded during a show with a symphony orchestra, which was a really unique experience for us. We always have something in the works!
How do you feel you’ve evolved musically throughout your career?
I think we’ve always kept exploring our sound. We started out with more of a pop-rock sound and gradually evolved into something much more rock-oriented today, while always paying special attention to melody. To us, that’s essential. We’ve always stayed true to our feelings and our vision, while trying new things and never closing any doors. It’s really about embracing life, everything it brings, and trying to translate that into our music.
Can you tell us about tours you’ve completed. Any war stories you’d like to share?
We’ve been pretty lucky so far, touring several times across Europe, the Balkans, Scandinavia, and even Japan, so we definitely have a lot of stories to tell! One particularly memorable moment was the first time we played Hills of Rock Festival in Bulgaria, back in 2018. We were headlining the second stage, and all the bands playing before us were really heavy hardcore, screaming vocals, deathcore, metal… And there we were with our pop-rock sound, which was even more pronounced at the time! We were all freaking out backstage because we felt SO far from everything the audience had been listening to all day. To be honest, we were pretty discouraged and genuinely afraid that they would be completely disappointed. So we went on stage incredibly stressed… and then something magical happened. The crowd gradually grew from around 300 people to almost 8,000! By the end of the show, they asked for two encores and were singing along with us as one voice. It was absolutely magical. The emotional rollercoaster was insane — going from thinking, “What the hell are we doing here?” to experiencing one of the most incredible shows we’d ever played. It’s still one of my favorite memories from all our years of touring.”
Will we see you on the road anytime soon?
Always yes!! We will be touring in Europe, UK, the Balkans and for the first time in South America (Brazil and Argentina at least). Come and join us guys!!
What’s next for the band? How do you plan to reach the next level?
Keep touring. Always. And keep releasing new material. It’s an ongoing process, something we work on every single day. For us, performing live is the key to everything, especially nowadays with all the disruption AI is bringing to the music industry. There’s something about the connection between a band and an audience that simply can’t be replaced. We want to keep exploring new territories, bring our music to new countries, and connect with new audiences. That’s what keeps the whole adventure exciting for us.
Finally, what’s the one question (and answer) interviewers never ask but you wish they would?
Maybe something like, “What’s something completely un-rock’n’roll about you?”And I’d probably answer that I absolutely love gardening and growing my own vegetables! (laughs) Not very rock’n’roll, I know!”
