Interview with The Chuck Norris Experiment

Despite a moniker referencing American blues artist Charles Norris, The Chuck Norris Experiment actually play a rather nifty brand of punk infused hard rock. With a new record packed full of non-album tracks just released (Hot Stuff – Vol 3) and live dates booked deep into 2026, it’s looking like a busy time for Sweden’s hottest exports. So without further ado, we introduce vocalist Chuck Norris:

Can you tell us about the band’s origins. Where did you meet etc.

We date back to 2004 where we met in the ancient rock clubs of Göteborg City. A bunch of us with similar interests in action rock and punk rock started jamming and drinking beer out of pure boredom in between recording sessions and tours with our original bands. And suddenly we had a band.

What are the musical influences of each band member and how do you forge them into a cohesive whole?

It might be hard to believe when you hear us, but all of us have a background in metal or Gothenburg metal, I am the only one with a more punkish / old school hard rock background. These days we don’t even talk about “sound”, whatever we try to do always ends up sounding like us anyway, haha!

Can you tell us about your local music scene. Is it supportive? Are there many places to play?

Gothenburg is a classic metal town, but also with a nice and kind of strong action rock scene, with bands like Upploppet, Scumbag Millionaire and The Drippers.

These days everyone is very supportive, it can be that we are getting old and don’t take everything so serious anymore. There are not many places to play for bands like us, but it looks like something is happening and smaller places are popping up again. Good stuff!

What’s the best and worst thing about your local scene?

I think our local scene is exactly like everyone else’s local scene. We got some good people that work hard for the local bands, and we got some places that basically want bands to pay to play.

Can you tell us about the band’s discography (demos, singles, albums).

Yes! We have released 11 studio albums, 3 compilations of rare tracks, 2 live albums, 1 best of album and maybe 30 vinyl singles. This does not include digital releases; we don’t count them as real releases 😊

How do you feel you’ve evolved musically throughout your career?

I hope we kept the energy and power from the early days, but I think and hope that I put more thought and care in the details of our newer releases. We work hard to add some small clever things and hooks into the songs. Maybe we are the only ones that hear them, but hopefully they put a little extra into the songs.

Can you tell us about tours you’ve completed. Any war stories you’d like to share?

During the first ten years we did longer tours through Europe on 2-3 weeks, but these days we mainly do long weekend “tours”. It is hard to get good gigs on weekdays these days, and we all got family and kids back home.

We are luckily enough spared from the bad war stories from the road, we had our share of broken down vans, mean police officers / awesome police officers, extreme hangovers and missing band members.

Will we see you on the road anytime soon?

Yes sir! We are playing Finland, UK, Germany & Spain in 2026! You can check out all the dates here!

What’s next for the band? How do you plan to reach the next level?

This might sound stupid, and I speak only for myself here. I am fucking happy with where I am. We are getting very nice gigs and festivals, and I get to see the world doing something really fun. I am cool with everything right now.

Next for the band! We are writing album no. 12 as we speak. It will be the most hard rock album this far, we are playing around with some really NWOBH sounding riffs and songs.

Finally, what’s the one question (and answer) interviewers never ask but you wish they would?

Is it true that The Chuck Norris Experiment is the sexiest band on the planet?
(The answer is HELL YES!)

Thank you very much for having us!!
