Derby Summer Sessions will take place from Friday 12 to Sunday 14 July at Derby’s beloved Markeaton Park, with world-class talent taking to the East Midlands’ favourite green space for the inaugural year of unmissable live music events.
The first-ever Derby Summer Sessions will launch on Friday 12 July, kicking off with the multi-BRIT Award-winning Becky Hill, a pop powerhouse with a reputation as a pioneer in electronic music. Becky is known for her distinctive voice and hit collaborations in the dance-pop genre, with everyone from David Guetta to Little Simz over the last decade. She has written and/or performed on seventeen UK Top 40 singles, including five Top 10 singles and a UK Number 1, amassing over 4 billion streams on Spotify alone.
Welsh legend Tom Jones will captivate Derby on Saturday 13 July with his powerful voice, which has been enthralling audiences worldwide for over six decades. Penning timeless classics including “It’s Not Unusual”, “She’s A Lady” and “Sexbomb”, selling more than 100 million records and continuing as an esteemed and influential figure in the music industry. Sir Tom’s career has been filled with numerous honours and accolades, including a deeply cherished knighthood from Queen Elizabeth II in 2006, multiple BRIT Awards, a Silver Clef Award, the Music Industry Trusts Award and a Hitmaker Award. He has cemented his place in music history as one of the most successful artists of all time, traversing musical eras and genres, and appealing to all genders and ages. Also set to grace the stage on Saturday is Gabrielle, who emerged in the early ’90s with her soulful voice and decade-defining hits including ‘Out Of Reach’. Gabrielle is currently celebrating 30 years of her smash hit #1 single ‘Dreams’ and will be bringing her incredible show to Bedford.
The world-class weekend of live music will see fans enjoy Madness on Sunday 14 July. The iconic British band has been delighting fans since the late ’70s with their infectious blend of ska, pop, and new wave. Their hits like “Our House” and “Baggy Trousers” are synonymous with their quirky and upbeat style and have cemented their status as one of the UK’s most beloved bands, with a legacy that continues to delight fans of all ages. Joining them is Rick Astley, a global pop sensation in the late ’80s, whose era-defining classic “Never Gonna Give You Up” has topped charts the world over. The Lightning Seeds, are also set to perform, known for their melodic and cheerful indie pop, gifting the world the iconic football anthem “Three Lions”. Deco will also join the party, delivering 80s synth-speckled contemporary pop hits.
