Nice review Paul. Lanegan’s one of my favourite artists and I’ll Take Care of You is one of the best covers albums I’ve heard, so I’m sad to hear he didn’t pull it out the bag for this one too. Still, got it on preorder nonetheless and intrigued to hear it.
As with all reviews Will, it’s only my opinion. Who knows maybe it’s one of those albums that’s a *really* slow grower… (still waiting, but maybe this time next year it’ll be one of my favourites!)
I meant to imply that I wouldn’t be surprised if I ended up thinking the same after hearing it; I didn’t really know what to expect from the album and Lanegan’s certainly not incapable of producing uninspiring work (Scraps At Midnight got quite tiresome very quickly for me)…
