The brainchild of Omer Cohen, Venice Revive is a symphonic metalcore project that hails from Petah Tikva, Israel. Fusing orchestral arrangements to heavy and melodic passages, debut album Future Paradise is a seven track affair that takes the listener on an emotional roller coaster and digs its roots deep into your psyche in a way that modern music rarely does. As we await Venice Revive’s next move, we talk to Omer to explore his musical past and gague what the future holds:

Can you tell us about the band’s origins? Where did you meet etc.

It’s actually a solo project, I started playing guitar just to play the songs I love hearing, started improvising riffs for fun and suddenly there’s a full album out!

What are the musical influences and how do you forge them into a cohesive whole?

The first album naturally came out as old school metalcore because that’s what I grew up on. Bands like Trivium, Killswitch Engage, As I Lay Dying, Bullet for my Valentine, trying to go for a more modern sound in my next album.

Can you tell us about your local music scene? Is it supportive? Are there many places to play?

Not a lot, but we’re a small country so there’s never any problem finding a place that could fit all of us. You also see the same faces every time which is really nice because everyone’s so friendly here!

What’s the best and worst thing about your local scene?

The best thing is the tight knit community, we’re all a part of Facebook groups, WhatsApp groups and everyone pretty much knows everyone.

The worst thing isn’t even our fault, our geographical location makes it super hard to break the glass ceiling, since we can’t just rent a bus and go on tour.

Can you tell us about the band’s discography (demos, singles, albums).

So far, I’ve released my debut album & two singles, one was a part of a project by a production company with other Israeli bands, the second one was a cover for MCR that we dedicated to the victims of October 7. More covers and a second album are in late recording stages, can’t wait to share them with the world!

How do you feel you’ve evolved musically throughout your career?

I’ve learnt a lot about the world of music and how quickly it evolves, I didn’t even know about old-school and modern metalcore, for example, before people kept repeating the words “old school” in their reviews.

I’ve also learnt how to better work with people, what kind of promotion is worth it and what to stay away from, the basic stuff you learn with experience in your field.

Can you tell us about tours you’ve completed. Any war stories you’d like to share?

I still haven’t performed yet, I’m trying to find people to transform Venice Revive into a proper band, promise to update when I do!

What’s next? How do you plan to reach the next level?

Finding a new vocalist to record the next album and cover aforementioned, finding a social media manager and doing everything I can to get as much exposure as possible.
