The sedate, sea battered coastline of Bridlington in Yorkshire might not be your first thought when thinking of bombastic metal, well it’s time to think again because L.O.C. are here to blow any preconceived ideas to smithereens. Formed in 2025, the band have taken giant strides, having already released an EP and a handful of singles and receiving complementary words from the alternative and alternative press. Therefore we thought it was high time we spoke to frontman and guitarist Adam Towse (the band is completed by Will Watson, guitar, Dave Worth, bass, and drummer Mark Cooper), here’s what he had to say:

Can you tell us about the band’s origins. Where did you meet etc.

I created the concept for L.O.C and started demoing some material in very early 2025. I originally started the band as a studio project but after putting out an ad for a bass player to work on some tracks with me I was joined by our now lead guitarist, Will. When the material started to take shape and we realised we had created something special we decided that we needed a full band. In September 2025 Mark joined the fold on drums, both myself and Will had played with Mark in bands previously. We then started the live rehearsals with Will on bass and things came together very quickly. The issue we had is that Will was really a lead guitar player and we had started to write song with two guitar parts. The decision was to find a bass player. Luckily a fellow musician suggested that Dave would be perfect for the job. Dave came to one rehearsal and never left. The L.O.C line-up was complete!

What are the musical influences of each band member and how do you forge them into a cohesive whole?

We all have different influences but a mutual love for heavy metal. I love bands such as Lamb Of God, Dave is a huge Metallica fan, Will loves Black Sabbath and Mark is into bands such as Tool and Mastodon as well as a lot of the early death metal stuff. I think our varied influences just come together, we don’t have to make the influences fit. It just works. We never set out to copy or try and sound like anyone else so we have a blank canvas and we just do what we do.

Can you tell us about your local music scene. Is it supportive? Are there many places to play?

Our local music scene has been very supportive. We’ve made a lot of progress in a very short time and the support we get has been a huge part of this. Our debut show was in our home town of Bridlington at Stirling Castle and was packed. This was huge encouragement and really spurred us on. Since then our shows in the surrounding areas like York and Hull have been brilliant. We love playing live so this means a lot to us. There are some great venues in the area and some excellent promoters who are really pushing the underground music scene.

What’s the best and worst thing about your local scene?

Well the best thing about the local scene is the people who turn out to support live music from upcoming bands and the promoters who make these shows happen. The worst thing is the lack of support for music at a grass roots level which sadly is becoming more common. People need to remember that if they only go and see established acts in huge venues and festivals that eventually there will be no bands left to perform at these events if they don’t give the same support to the up and coming acts. It’s your scene, look after it!

Can you tell us about the band’s discography (demos, singles, albums).

So Far we have released our debut E.P “The Ultimate Karma” and a string of singles including our latest single “Dragging Me Down”. All of these are available on all major streaming platforms.

We have been lucky enough to work with metal production legend, Colin Richardson (Slipknot, MachineHead, Trivium etc) on all of these tracks. Colin has been a huge support for us with this venture and we are incredibly grateful for all his help.

How do you feel you’ve evolved musically throughout your career?

I think we have definitely become more skilled as musicians, I know I have. I also think that chemistry we create when playing together has only improved with time and experience. We have definitely become faster, heavier and more hard hitting as we have progressed.

Can you tell us about tours you’ve completed. Any war stories you’d like to share?

At the moment we tend to not block book shows as we feel quality is more important that quantity. We want have the time to make sure that we put on great shows for our audience. I don’t think you can do this with block booked dates unless you have a team behind you. Currently we do a lot of this independently so we are doing most of this ourselves. So far we have played 7 shows this year.

The most notable war story is probably when our drummer, Mark, nearly completely severed his finger on a chainsaw blade a couple of hours before a show. Amazingly he then used superglue and electrical tape to hold is together and still performed the show. How hardcore is that?

Will we see you on the road anytime soon?

We have a couple of shows before the end of the year and then we plan to get on the road again in early 2027 to cover some more of the UK. We will then be looking to head into Europe.

What’s next for the band? How do you plan to reach the next level?

We are always working on the next level. Before the end of the year we plan to release a limited edition CD with all our releases so far included on it. We are currently writing new material and also planning shows for next year. We never stop working on the progression of the band so there will be plenty more to come.

Finally, what’s the one question (and answer) interviewers never ask but you wish they would?

Question: Do we think it’s fair that Will is the only one of us still blessed with beautiful long hair?

Answer: No it’s not fair at all. I swear he has only grown it to mock us!
